On a whim, an empty wood-paneled, tiered, L-shaped room forged into an art gallery. This same space had previously housed a one thousand pound vintage safe that we had no way of extracting. We then became Safe Gallery. Approximately one hundred and nineteen artists have showcased their work over the past four years. The programming comprised of group, solo, and primarily two-person shows. The first accidental showcase spawned twenty nine more exhibitions, openings, closings, live performances, video and film screenings, a cabaret, readings, live experimental sound, community dinners, comedy, gallery talks, school lectures, a benefit, and a poker tournament. Since its inception, Safe Gallery has always been about the conversation, the mingling, and the intersecting of varied artists.
It was over these four years and countless events that we all became family. Both the gallery and artists evolved symbiotically. Family Show is a salon exhibition of work we have come to know and love.
A final closing... and opening of a new chapter.
